The In-between: Exploring the Dynamics of Collaborative Artwork
Artists Christy Corey, Jasmine Jones, and Diana Abouchacra bring together video, photography, printmaking, and illustration in fresh, dynamic ways to explore the way collaboration influences artistic discourse. The concept for the exhibition was born from the three artists' desire to reconnect after many years off from working together during art school. Jasmine’s video and photography work collaborates with poet Brett Maddux, creating visual scapes that play with the experience of spoken word poetry. Christy’s illustrations are made in conversation with singer/songwriter Ashly LaRosa, who works under the name Figurine to create gentle, haunting lyrics. Diana’s installation and printmaking works explore new modes as she adds the dimension of sound to the experience of her art. Her work is in conversation with the ephemeral and existential poetry written by her sister, Maya Abouchacra.
